About Us
Dr. Ahmed Attia, D.O.
 Dr. Ahmed Attia, D.O. is Board Certified in General and Bariatrics Surgery and the owner/proprietor of ESA South Jersey Bariatrics, PA which he established in November 2010. Dr. Attia is affiliated with Inspira Health Network and is currently the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Vineland.
Born and raised in Egypt, Dr. Attia received his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) from Faculty of Medicine, University of Alexandria, Egypt. He received his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Old Westbury, New York. Dr. Attia completed his residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway, New York, finishing as Chief Surgical Resident. Dr. Attia then received specialty training completing his Laparoscopic & Bariatric Fellowship at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Attia performs general surgeries such as gallbladder, appendectomy, colon and hernias. He is highly dedicated to the advancement in general surgery and is the lead in laparoscopic and robotic assisted procedures in this area. Dr. Attia specializes in bariatric (weight-loss) surgery and has performed over 5,000 laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, revision of gastric bypass and Lap Band placement procedures. Dr. Attia performs the laparoscopic Gastric Bypass, laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Bariatric revision surgeries. Through lifestyle changes, nutrition and bariatric surgery, Dr. Attia is committed to extending and improving the patient’s quality of life. He is dedicated to advancing General and Bariatric procedures with the most recent and updated techniques available.
Dr. Derek Stephenson, MD
 Dr. Derek Stephenson, M.D. is a board certified General and Bariatric surgeon specializing in laparoscopic bariatric surgery with 9 years of performing Bariatric and General Surgery procedures.
Dr. Stephenson is the current Director of Bariatric Surgery at Inspira Hospital in Elmer, NJ.
Originally from Las Vegas, NV; Dr. Stephenson received Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemistry from Fort Valley State University and Health Physics from the University of Nevada Las Vegas as part of the Cooperative Developmental Energy Scholarship Program. He then obtained his medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA and completed his general surgery training at the University of Arizona Department of Surgery. Dr. Stephenson has received further specialty training in Bariatric surgery, having completed a Fellowship in this field at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Stephenson works with his patients to manage and treat multiple diseases and conditions in the field of general and bariatric surgery, including surgery of the Colon, Hernia repair, Stomach and Gallbladder. In doing so, both laparoscopic and Robotic techniques are often used to provide the most advanced care possible. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. Stephenson has authored multiple national publications with entries in the journals such as "Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases"; and has given presentations at national meetings.

Candice Stolar, MA RD
 Candice is a Registered Dietitian and has been with ESA South Jersey Bariatrics as a Registered Dietitian since 2014. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, and then went on to achieve her Master of the Arts in Wellness and Lifestyle Management from Rowan University in New Jersey.
Candice educates patients who are having weight loss surgery to prepare them for their new lifestyle after surgery. She also educates patients who are not having surgery with various other health issues such as managing diabetes, improving cholesterol and to lower blood pressure.
Candice’s experience includes helping a variety of audiences, from children to adults, to improve their diets and lifestyles. Candice loves to see the progress the patients are able to achieve with her help. Her personal dedication to living a healthy lifestyle has driven her to this career so that she may help others to also reach their health goals.
